This course will prepare students to develop skills and knowledge needed to operate effectively as an area manager, department manager and Regional Manager. By the end of this course, students will be able to oversee the work of others and provide strategic leadership.


This course provides competencies in developing and implementing strategic plans, managing organizational change, developing and implementing a business plan, managing ?nances, providing leadership across the organization, managing innovation and continuous improvement, managing risk, establishing and maintaining strategic networks.

Course entry requirements

For entry at diploma level, satisfactory completion of year 12th or equivalent is required; Certi?cate IV in Small Business Management or other relevant quali?cations is preferred although not a pre-requisite. Overseas students require language pro?ciency of IELTS level 5.5 or equivalent. Applicants with limited experience in the management area should consider completing the Certi?cate IV in Business Management to gain the underpinning knowledge required for this Advanced Diploma course.


Candidates may enter the quali?cation through number of entry point’s demonstration potential to undertake vocational and training at advanced diploma level, including:

  • After achieving the Diploma of Business or other relevant quali?cations OR.
  • Providing evidence of competency in the majority of units required for the BSB51915 Diploma of Leadership and Management for other relevant quali?cations OR.
  • With substantial vocational experience, in management but without a formal quali?cation.

Prerequisite requirements

There are no prerequisite requirements for individual units of competency.

Course content

Eight (8) units must be completed: 3 core units and 5 elective units.

Three (3) core units of competence from the core units listed below plus.

Five (5) elective units of competence.

520 teaching hours.
